RW Consumer Products Invests $1 Million in Equipment Upgrades to Expand Capacity for its Critical & Essential Care Products and to Launch Hand Sanitizer

Winnipeg, Manitoba, April 24, 2020

In the wake of COVID-19, “business as usual” is now “business that adapts.” With this in mind, RW Consumer Products – a Canadian-based provider of critical care products and other consumer essentials – has ramped up its operations to help meet global demand for hand sanitizer and other healthcare items.

“As everyone knows, there’s a huge demand but extremely short supply of hand sanitizer right now,” says Henry A. De Ruiter, President & CEO of RW Consumer Products. “That’s why we’re thrilled to have received our Health Canada NPN# for the mass production of hand sanitizer. We will be launching liquid spray-on hand sanitizer products based on the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended specifications, with full-scale production slated to begin this June.”

Meanwhile, RW has already invested $625,000 in Q1 2020, purchasing new equipment at both of its Winnipeg, MB and St. Albert, AB facilities. This is part of a planned $1 million upgrade that will be completed by June 2020. RW anticipates that these operational improvements will increase its total case production capacity by 300% over 2019 levels.

“These investments were planned prior to the COVID pandemic and have been accelerated, wherever possible, due to global demand for our products,” explains De Ruiter. “Not only are our critical care products being used to combat the pandemic, but we imagine they’ll be considered a way of life for consumers long after the curve has levelled. Now, more than ever, people are proactively trying to improve their health and prevent the spread of germs.”

Over the last two months, as other companies have been forced to downsize during the pandemic, RW has hired approximately 60 new employees between its two facilities. This is to keep up with accelerated production and to continue serving its customers at the highest possible level.

Providing FREE Hand Sanitizer to the Healthcare Sector

Prior to mass production in June, RW will run small batches of hand sanitizer and donate ALL products to the healthcare sector. These donations will be made directly by RW or through its customers/retail partners. Healthcare providers may also contact RW for more information.

This goodwill offering is in line with our corporate motto of ‘Care...making a difference’. We believe that every company has the power to make a positive impact in the world, and we welcome the chance to do our part during these trying times.

HAVING HEART FOR PEOPLE IN NEED

Through PSP Care, we make it our mission to actively support people in need. This support can take on many forms, and extend to a variety of places. Sometimes, it’s our local community that requires our most immediate attention. Other times, we focus on global intiatives or urgent disaster relief sitiations abroad. Depending on the need, our response varies between one-time and ongoing support. Below, you can learn more about some of the specific causes that are near and dear to our heart:

We are also extremely proud of our on-going involvement with International Hope Canada, Canadian Food for Children and Health Partners of Canada. Each year, we donate health care products valued at thousands of dollars to assist with their on-going humanitarian and relief efforts around the world. Our product donations have been shipped to a number of areas in need by these wonderful organizations, including Peru, Nicaragua, Ghana, Negros, El Salvador and Zambia, to name a few.

We proudly support a number of local (Manitoba and Alberta) charities throughout each year, including: CancerCare, Variety Club, Fire Fighters Burn Fund, Breakfast for Learning, Siloam Mission and several more. As well, we provide support to some of our Canadian retail and wholesale customers and their corporate fundraising initiatives. A number of our staff members also volunteer their time to further support these and other incredibly worthwhile initiatives.

LOCAL SUPPORT:

ONGOING GIVING:

URGENT DISASTER RELIEF:

When disasters strike, we answer the call for help through products and/or donations. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, we shipped distilled water to New Orleans to ensure people’s basic needs were being met. We also provided products to the Haiti Earthquake relief efforts in 2010, when medical attention was a top priority. More recently, we sent products and cash donations collected by our team of caring and dedicated employees in support of Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. The 2013 typhoon ravaged the Philippines and affected many of our employees’ family and friends.

You are representative of the very best that this country has to offer. I wish to offer profound gratitude and applause for your extraordinary work and our belief that all the individuals who contribute to the humanitarian efforts of International Hope Canada truly personify the essence of what it takes to be a modern day hero.
